Hinkley County is a timely fictional satire about the Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department of a rural mid-western county. The plot revolves around the misguided adventures of the county elected officials, their employees and the official (and sometimes unofficial) activities. The humor extends to the far reaches of the federal bureaucracy as the hero is propelled into a "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington" mission that reveals the true meaning of wasted tax dollars.
Although irony runs rampant throughout the story, there remains an acknowledgement of the basic rural American values that allow the read to find respite from the implied truth about power and politics.
Hinkley County is Craig Sullivan's second novel and first humorous satire.
"full of hilarious characters, an outrageous plot... Preposterous premise. And it's probably true! Laugh out loud funny... Sullivan hits a home run."
The First State Bank and disTrust of Hinkley County
Hinkley County is a small mid-western community struggling to deal with the strong arm of the federal government. The local bank management, feeling frustration over an unwanted injection of T.A.R.P. funds, are drawn into a criminal plot to defraud the banking system. And the humorous escapade does not stop at the county border.
From the private meeting rooms of the Hinkley Country Club to the White House and the set of the Oprah Winfrey Show, everyone is a target for good satire. But don't worry - the good guy always wins.
First State Bank and disTrust of Hinkley County is Craig Sullivan's third novel and the second in the Hinkley County series.
"a humorous inside look at the intriguing lives of small town characters... [a] laugh-a-minute... HINKLEY COUNTY is a fun read."
